Applying to the American Section
of the Lycée International
Welcome to the American Section!
Bienvenue à la Section Américaine!
The American Section provides a bilingual education, English and French, to students ages 4–18. It is part of the vibrant Lycée International community, in which 14 international sections work side by side, creating a unique multicultural and multilingual environment. Our students practice global citizenship on a daily basis, passing from one language to another while demonstrating a cultural flexibility and an international outlook that is exceptional among international schools.
Our website contains a great deal of information regarding our program. The video Welcome to the American Section is a great place to start, and includes a detailed explanation of our unique educational model. The video Voices of the American Section offers a more personal portrait, with statements from a cross section of our vibrant community.
Admission to the American Section is selective. At each grade level, we seek students with age-appropriate English skills and the ability to juggle our demanding dual curriculum that is predominantly French. For students who do not already speak French, we offer an immersion program called Français Spécial. This intensive course allows students ages 7–15 to acquire sufficient mastery of the language to then integrate into bilingual classes the following year.
We invite you to read carefully through the Admissions pages and to consult our FAQ. We also strongly recommend that you take a moment to read through the grade-specific information located in the Before You Apply section.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for considering the American Section and Lycée International for your child’s education.
