Applying to the American Section
of the Lycée International

Welcome to the American Section!
Bienvenue à la Section Américaine!

Lisa Morvan, Director of Admissions, American Section Lycée International Saint-Germain-en-Laye

The American Section provides a bilingual education, English and French, to students ages 4–18. It is part of the vibrant Lycée International community, in which 14 international sections work side by side, creating a unique multicultural and multilingual environment. Our students practice global citizenship on a daily basis, passing from one language to another while demonstrating a cultural flexibility and an international outlook that is exceptional among international schools.

Admission to the American Section is selective. At each grade level, we seek students with age-appropriate English skills and the ability to juggle our demanding dual curriculum that is predominantly French. For students who do not already speak French, we offer an immersion program called Français Spécial. This intensive course allows students ages 7–15 to acquire sufficient mastery of the language to then integrate into bilingual classes the following year.

Our website contains a great deal of information regarding our program. We invite you to read carefully through the Admissions pages and to consult our FAQ. Please take the time to download and read our Admissions Handbook, which answers most common questions and includes step-by-step application instructions and details for each grade level, before beginning the application process.

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for considering the American Section and Lycée International for your child’s education.

Français Spécial

Children who have limited French may qualify for Français Spécial (FS), the Lycée International’s specially designed French-adaptation course.

Offered in one’s first year at the school, Français Spécial builds written and spoken French so that students may join regular classes held in French the following year.

Français Spécial classes are offered from second through tenth grade (CE12nde).
