Summer Awards

The American Section is proud to offer generous financial awards to its students in grades Quatrième through Première to enable them to engage in special projects or studies during the summer months. Our Summer Award program has been in existence since 2008 and over sixty Section students have benefitted over the years. Be sure to view the videos below that highlight the projects of some of our recent winners.

The Summer Awards are funded by Friends of ASALI and generous donations to our Annual Fund.

The Global Citizen Scholarship was established as the Senior Class Gif of the class of 2007 t. It finances special projects focusing on issues of human development, environmental protection, and/or human rights. Award money may be used to finance materials, travel and living expenses, or other related costs. The award is open to an individual or team of Première students. Two awards of 1500€ each are distributed annually.

The Summer Scholar Award enables students to explore an academic or artistic subject in depth during the summer. Summer scholars are eligible to study whatever interests them -  molecular biology, studio art, field-work in ecology, creative writing, or Early American history, to name a few. The only requirement is that they pursue a passion or explore a field that they are considering  for their university studies or professional life. This award was established by the Class of 2013 as their Senior Class Gift. Two awards of 1500€ each are distributed annually.

The Community Service Award finances Global Citizen efforts in our own backyard. Like the Global Citizen Schlolarship, projects should target issues of human development, environmental protection and/or human rights. Projects may either be conducted during a defined period of time or implemented over the whole school year. Award money may be used to finance materials, transportation expenses and other related costs. The award is open to an individual or team of Troisième, Seconde, or Première students and was created by the Class of 2011 as their Senior Class Gift.

The Junior Summer Scholar Award is similar to the Summer Scholar Award, affording Middle School students the opportunity to explore an academic or artistic subject in depth during the summer months. There is one award of 1500€ awarded annually to a student in Quatrième or Troisième

Awards are publicized to students starting in January. Applications are usually due in March and winners are announced in April.
